Resolving International Custody Issues

After separating from their partner, a parent wants to take their child and move to another country. Maybe a parent moved internationally in violation of a custody agreement. Practicing in the Washington, D.C., area, our attorneys at Reinstein, Glackin & Herriott, LLC have resolved many complicated cases throughout our decades of work. If you need trusted guidance with custody problems that cross international boundaries, we can help.

What Are Hague Convention Cases?

The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction is a treaty between member countries established in 1980. It was created so that children would be immediately returned if taken from their country of habitual residence in violation of the other parent’s custody rights. It also is meant to ensure that relocation and custody matters are decided in the proper jurisdiction.
