Shelby Whale is a Law Clerk at Reinstein, Glackin & Herriott. She attended the University of Detroit Mercy for her undergraduate degree where she graduated summa cum laude. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University College of Law, where she graduated cum laude and was a recipient of a Trustee Scholarship. During law school, Shelby was a managing editor for the Michigan State Law Review and received the jurisprudence award for her achievements in the Chance at Childhood Clinic. Shelby also had the opportunity to study abroad in Croatia.

When Shelby made the decision to attend law school, it was for the express purpose of practicing family law. Family law is a unique area of the law because it involves so much more than advising a client about their legal rights. Many lawyers attend law school to “help people” or “make a difference,” but Shelby believes that other areas of the law are not as personally fulfilling as helping clients resolve family issues and making a real and significant impact on someone’s daily life.

Before joining Reinstein, Glackin & Herriott, Shelby served as a law clerk for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Child Protection Division and the Washington, D.C. Office of the Attorney General in the Child Protection Section.
