Motor vehicle accidents may stem from speeding

Two individuals' lives were sadly snuffed out in a recent car crash in Maryland. In addition, a third individual suffered critical injuries in the collision, which police said occurred at a high rate of speed. Sometimes, such motor vehicle accidents are the result of a driver's carelessness behind the wheel -- such as speeding -- which is grounds for litigation.

The recent accident took place at about 2:30 a.m. on a Sunday. Authorities reported that a car suddenly left the roadway and went into the median. At that point, the car reportedly hit a tree located in the road's median.

The driver of the car ended up passing away in the crash. In addition, the car's rear passenger died in the collision. They were both pronounced deceased at the crash scene. The front seat passenger survived but suffered critical injuries and was taken to a trauma center. Authorities said they did not know why the car went off the roadway, but it appeared that speed contributed to the accident.

The surviving family members of the rear passenger who passed away in the Maryland car crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim in this situation, seeking damages. Likewise, the surviving front seat passenger may opt to file a personal injury claim. Although the driver of the car ended up dying in the crash, this individual's estate may still be sued. In the same way, anyone with an ownership interest in the car may be sued in connection with the accident. A lawsuit that is fought successfully might result in monetary damages that may help with addressing funeral costs, hospital bills and other losses related to these types of motor vehicle accidents.
