Head-on motor vehicle accidents may lead to serious injuries

Several people have sadly suffered injuries in a car crash in Maryland. The head-on accident took place on a recent Wednesday afternoon. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents occur due to a driver’s carelessness, which is grounds for litigation.

The recent accident took place at around 12:15 p.m. Police said that multiple people were trapped as a result of the crash. After responders freed all accident victims from the car wreck, the victims were transported to a medical center for treatment.

According to authorities, one of the victims suffered injuries that were considered to be life threatening. Meanwhile, the other accident victims suffered serious injuries that were not deemed life threatening. Police continued to investigate the cause of the accident.

If the police discover that one of the drivers caused the Maryland car accident due to negligent behavior — such as speeding or texting while driving — then the other injured parties may opt to file personal injury claims against this driver, seeking damages. Liability has to be established, based upon a showing of negligence, before the court hearing the case will decide to award any claims for damages. In a claim that is fought successfully, a judge may award financial damages to address the plaintiffs’ medical bills, their loss of wages and even emotional distress resulting from the accident. Monetary damages cannot undo the events leading to the plaintiffs’ injuries, but they may help the plaintiffs to more easily move forward from these types of motor vehicle accidents.
