Man injured riding an electric scooter

Law enforcement authorities in Maryland are in the process of investigating an accident that resulted in a man suffering critical injuries and ultimately succumbing to those injuries. He was riding an electric scooter and collided with an SUV. If driver negligence contributed to the collision, that individual may be responsible for losses sustained by the victim’s surviving family members.

What happened?

According to reports, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, a man was operating an electric scooter near a shopping center located on Highbridge Road. At some point, he struck the side of a car that was exiting the shopping center and suffered significant injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment but sadly died a short time later.

Who is responsible?

At this point, who is responsible for this collision is unknown. Investigators are looking into the matter to determine exactly what happened. It is unclear if any charges are going to be filed against the driver of the SUV.

Seeking compensation

If driver negligence is at all to blame, even if only partially, the victim’s surviving family members may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses, which might include funeral expenses, medical costs, lost income, and various other damages that may be economic or noneconomic in nature. An experienced attorney can review the facts of the case and assist the victim’s loved ones to file legal claims in Maryland civil court if doing so is deemed necessary and appropriate. The good news is that cases like this can often be settled long before they get to court by negotiating with insurance providers.
