Trucker cited after fatal crash

People in Maryland and around the country accept at some level that motor vehicle accidents are possible anytime, anywhere. Those accidents that involve large commercial vehicles like semi trucks have a relatively high chance of causing serious damage, injury or even death largely because of their size and weight. On the opposite end of the spectrum, people on motorcycles have a relatively higher than average chance of experiencing serious injury or even death due to the inherent lack of protection around them.

A tragic example of these two realities colliding can be seen in the recent death of a motorcyclist after colliding with a tractor trailer. Reports indicate that the incident occurred in the late afternoon on a weekday. Road conditions at the time are not known but an apparent backup along a stretch of Interstate 81 in Marlowe led a truck driver to make the decision to swerve into an adjacent lane of traffic.

Unfortunately the trucker moved directly into the path of an oncoming motorcyclist and as a result the biker ran into the rear of the truck. The man on the motorcycle died from his injuries. He was only 46 years old. The deceased motorcyclist was a member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and was not on duty at the time of the crash. A citation was issued to the trucker for the lane change.

Family members of those killed by the negligent actions of others may want to talk with an attorney in Maryland to learn what compensation options may be available to them.
